Nest Pro 3rd gen dual fuel

I have a dual fuel electric heat pump / gas furnace and im struggling to have the option to turn the furnace on to only use the gas (gas is significantly cheaper than elec for me). Ive watch youtube and i dont have the option to use gas as my primary. The dual fuel setting is set to turn on when outside temps drop below 50. Its 32 this morning and the heat pump is blowing marginally warm air. Nest is saying it will take an hour before my house even reaches 67 inside

Hi Gigicandy1,

Thanks for posting here, and I appreciate you finding a fix for this.

When the temperature is too cold for your heat pump to function effectively, many heat pumps will fall back on your furnace or auxiliary heating. By default, your thermostat will use your heat pump as its primary source of heat. To help your system blow enough warm air, you can set your heat pump balancing settings to Max Comfort. Click on this link to learn more about Heat Pump Balance.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Best,

Zoe
