Nest Sensor reads at -337 Fahrenheit. Anyone else?

My Nest Sensor is reading at -337 Fahrenheit.

I have done all of the troubleshooting steps: battery replace, factory reset, remove and attach to the Thermostat.

I suspect the temperature sensor is either broken or SEVERLY misfiring, as this is a temperature not available on the planet Earth.

Hello techica,

I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you. It's very unusual to see a Nest Temperature Sensor show a too-low temperature reading even after resetting it to default in order to refresh. But we'd like to know more about this.

Is it still showing inaccurate readouts? Also, could you share a photo of it showing the temperature reading?

I'll look forward to your response.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi. Thank you so much for the help.

Yes, the sensor is STILL (sadly) showing negative 337 F.

Please help.

Hello techica,

I'm sorry to hear the issue still persists. I'd love to give it another shot.

Going over these steps might help:

  1. Move the sensor to a different area of the room.
  2. Restart it by removing its batteries for at least 5 minutes and waiting until it recalibrates the indoor temperature.
  3. If you have a room thermometer, please take a photo of the thermometer next to the temperature sensor. Both the thermometer and sensor screens should be visible in the photo and show the difference in each other’s readouts. If you don't have any, a photo of your sensor temperature readouts will suffice.

Keep us posted on how it goes.

Regards,

Mark

Hi folks,

Chiming in to see if you still need assistance with this. Let us know if you have additional questions ― we'd love to help.

Best,

Hi. Thank you. I finally had a moment to go through Mark's list.

Sadly, nothing worked.

I used the Room Thermometer that is already in our Nest, to measure the room.

I took pictures of my Nest (showing room temp) and the Nest app that is showing that the room sensor STILL reads the (crazy) -337 F.

This chat won't let me add pics. so, please advise on how i send those to you.

FWIW - I've reset this sensor several times ... battery swaps, removed and added sensor back,  assigned different room names.... any thing you can think of that left the sensor intact.

And so i'm hoping you all have other ideas beyond these.

thank you!
