My 3rd gen nest thermostat battery died despite being connected to a c wire. After charging, the connection and battery look good. My question is why would it die with the c wire connected? It appears to be providing power correctly.

VIN 36.11 V

Hello @SheaScott
Thank you for reaching out to our community about your battery information. I'm sorry about this situation. Don't worry, I'm here to help you with it.
With the description you posted, I don't see any abnormality in the battery information. Now, this situation is not normal since you have a "C" cable connected to the base, but sometimes the system when working demands a lot of power, which can drain the device's battery quickly. It could be one of these cases, but with the information provided, I don't see any reading below the standard, which indicates a good battery status.
In case you have similar problems, such as internet disconnections or sudden reboots, feel free to post it in our community or Contact Our Support to identify the error and offer you a solution.
Feel free to keep informing us of your situation, I'll be here to help you.
