Nest Thermostat 3rd Generation showing H71

Our nest is currently showing the H71 display, we have done everything possible to try and connect it to the heat link such as:

• Bringing it closer to the heat link. 
• Reconnecting the heat link, turning it off for 10 seconds then repeating for 30 seconds.
• Putting in the key code to reset heat link. 

We don’t know what else we can do to try and fix it. Just looking for suggestions to see what else we can do.

FIrstly, how long has the thermostat been installed for and working before this behavior first occurred and is the thermostat mounted on the wall or on a stand?
