Have just installed a thermostat E system with the heatlink downstairs and the controller upstairs. I was hoping to be able to use the heatlink as a thermostat too but from what I can work out it only works as a dumb sensor?
If I add a 2nd Generation learning thermostat to the system (downstairs), will this be able to control the Thermostat E heatlink as well as the upstairs controller? I have a 2nd gen in a second place and am considering upgrading this to a 3rd gen for hot water control so I have a controller available.

Hi @jimstewart77. Thanks for reaching out. You're right, the sensor in the Heat Link is not getting taken into consideration by the thermostat, it only uses the sensor inside the display. The 2nd generation thermostat is not available for sale anymore, but you can buy a 3rd generation and install it downstairs. The thermostat will come with an additional Heat Link because each thermostat needs to connect to its own Heat Link. This is called zoning and you can find more information here.
