Can the Nest Learning Thermostat Gen 1 battery expire, and so require the full thermostat to be replaced? It ran now, and then did not seem to hold a charge as it should.

None of the Nest Learning Thermostats have replaceable batteries.
How is it wired? Does it have the C wire installed?
The Gen 1 Learning Thermostat is 11 years old (released in 2011) and like all batteries, they have a life span.

Hi Patrick. I was able to charge and reinstall my older Nest Thermostat, that ran down when i had AC problems. The AC peaple said it was acting like it needed to be replaced due to lack of charge or ability to hold charge. But i was able to recharge enough, reinstall it, and get it working. So far so good!
Thanks!

Hey lgs,
How's it going? I'm checking back in just to ensure everything is still working as they should.

Hey Igs,
That's awesome and thanks for keeping us in the loop. Glad to hear that it is still working as it should and yes, it could be a big possibility that this is due to the drained battery which was sorted out when you charged it via USB cable.
Cheers,
Melba
