Nest Thermostat Randomly Switches From Eco to Comfort

I have a Nest Thermostat Model 1.4 for my vacation home and use Home/Away routines to govern temperature schedules. I've set the Away routine to "Set to Eco" and Home to "Turn on" the thermostat. When I leave the property I manually set the routine to Away, and the temp checks out correctly for the Eco setting. I check the temp periodically and this seems to function properly for several weeks. Then randomly the temperature changes to running the schedule, switching between Sleep and Comfort, even though the routine is on Away. If I Switch to Home, then back to Away, the temperature goes back to Eco. I've turned off (I think) all of the presence sensing on both the device and my phone. This has happened several times for me and is getting quite aggravating, in that I have to manually check the thermostat for proper behavior. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how it might be addressed.

I have just installed a couple of Nest Thermostats in our vacation home and one of the did this exact thing today.  Following for solutions.

I was thinking it might be something external, like a power blip that resets the router, but I haven't had a chance to experiment with that because I'm not there. But if you have more than one, and only one exhibited the issue, that's probably not the cause.
