Nest Thermostat Wifi

Hello,

My question is, is there a way to adjust the temperature of the Nest Theromstat in case of a wifi failure?

My Nest system got stuck in "Eco" mode, which turned off the heat and was making the house cold, and at the same time the wifi in my house got turned off. I eventually got the wifi back on and fixed the eco mode timing, but my concern is what if this happens again? If the power should go out, I would lose my wifi, and would have no ability to control my Nest Thermostat. I wish there was a manual backup option.

Hi gerkennc,

Your Nest thermostat can automatically switch to Eco Temperatures after it senses that nobody’s home. You’ll know Eco Temperatures are active when your thermostat says “Eco” on the display or in the Nest or Home app.

You can also manually set your thermostat to Eco Temperatures anytime, even when you’re home. This can be useful if you want to try to save more energy while you’re at home, and you don’t mind it being a bit cooler or warmer than usual.

When you manually set your Nest Learning Thermostat or Nest Thermostat E to Eco Temperatures, it will stay in that mode and won’t automatically switch back to heating or cooling until you manually switch it to one of those modes. Once you manually switch it to heating or cooling, your thermostat will resume automatically switching as people leave and come back home.

With that said, your network being offline should not set your Nest Thermostat to Eco mode. Check this link for more details about it.

Best,

Mel
