Hi
Nest Learning thermostat installed in a school. It is connected to the WLAN and I have setup a reservation so I know what I/P address it gets.
The device responds to a PING and the display on the thermostat states "Online" but all attempts to contact it via https://home.nest.com/ fails; I get the "offline" screen.
Just guessing, but the school broadband is notorious for having all ports closed so I suspect this is the cause of the behaviour I'm seeing. If this is the case, is there a list of ports that need to be opened and\or port forwarding required?
If I tether it to my phone; it works flawlessly.
Regards
John

Unfortunately, there is no documented list of ports/protocols you would need to allow, as it is a consumer product, where this kind of blocking is extremely uncommon. Can you use the product this is doing the blocking to see what traffic is being dropped, and whitelist it?

Hello foks,
I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.
Thanks for the input, @David_K.
@stasitemanager, I did find a helpful article with some troubleshooting steps for when your device is showing offline and about the recommended routing settings. Please let me know if that helps or if the issue still persists.
Regards,
Mark
