It is faulty, I have two thermostats, one upstair and one downstair. One could not see any network, the other one can. Try swapping those, same issue, thus nothing to do with how far the router is.
I am requesting a replacement unit

Thanks for swapping them out and for reaching out to the Google Nest Community. I just have a few more questions to fully understand what's going on.
Are you getting a specific message or code on the non-working one when trying to get it connected to your WiFi network? If yes, what is it? Also, have you tried connecting it to another WiFi network or a mobile hotspot if available?
