Google nest thermostat

Switched to new best Google thermostat from old one. I have electric heat pump. When I go to heat mode it doesn’t turn on compressor where as when I switch to cool mode it turns on compressor. I have wires hooked up like below pictures. Need help

My current thermostat has a plug, looks like it's a 12v system

Looking to find out if my current system is compatible. From what I can see the black wire is a ground, the red wire is 12v+ and the brown an yellow wires are ABEV. No idea what that means. But they are in a plug. Can I cut the plug off and just wire...
