Hello, I got a “Nest Thermostat” (model G4CVZ) and a C Power Connector only a couple of years ago for my furnace. happy with them. Now adding an HVAC but it’s an old wiring system without enough wires. And awfully difficult to upgrade the wiring.
I wanted to move the thermostat to the basement as the control module, and buy a Nest Sensor for sensing the living room instead. Surprisingly the older Nest Thermostat E is compatible with sensors but apparently not my newer model. What the h…!
I can’t afford ditching an extra $319 (the sale value) for a shiny Learning Thermostat for the sake of marketing compatibility… that won’t be of any use for me anyway sitting in the basement!
Am I missing something? Any suggestion appreciated.

Hi @a_shoja,
Thanks for posting in the community forum. I understand that you want to upgrade your HVAC system, and that's why you want to move your Nest Thermostat to a better place to add a Nest Sensor, but your Nest Sensor isn't compatible with your Nest Thermostat. No worries, help is here.
The Google Nest Thermostat (2020) offers essential functions to control your smart home and isn't designed to support any 1st or 2nd gen Nest Temperature Sensors.
