Nest Thermostat not updating, will not send code for app

We have Gen 2 Thermostats.  One works great.  The software for the second thermostat has not been updated since 2019.  In addition, the app on the thermostat is not connected.   It does indicate that it is connected to my WiFi.

I have tried removing power for 10 minutes, completing a total reset of the thermostat, this removed it from displaying on my phone.

I have read through many senecio's, just can't find one that is similar.   I would appreicate any advice or suggestions to get this thermostat so I can control it on my phone or desk top.

Sorry for the delay but thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community. 

 

I have a few questions to better understand what's going on:

 

  1. How did you reset your thermostat? Did you select "All Settings" or just the "Account connection"? 
  2. Is this the 2nd generation Nest Learning Thermostat?
  3. Once the reset was completed, were you able to successfully add this thermostat back to your account and WiFi network?

Regarding your questions from your email, How did you reset your thermostat? Did you select "All Settings" or just the "Account connection"?  Is this the 2nd generation Nest Learning Thermostat? Below are my answers -

A - I choose “All Settings” and I have reset using that selection twice

 

? - Is this the 2nd generation Nest Learning Thermostat?

A -Yes, this is a second Generation – I do have 2 units (Family Room and Hallway), both were purchased at the same time and are second Generation.  Hallway is the one we are having issues with/

 

? - Once the reset was completed, were you able to successfully add this thermostat back to your account and WiFi network

A -when looking at the display on the thermostat, Settings, Network, it list our WiFi name and gives the WiFi icon.  So, I must assume it is connected to our network. However, I can not get an “Entry Key” for the Nest app nor can I get it to update the program version from 5.9.4-5.  No, it is not connected to my account.

 

Prior to me trying to get this thermostat working, both thermostats (Family Room & Hallway) were listed on my account.  When I used the app on my phone, Family Room was connected, however Hallway always showed not connected.  Since I reset my thermostat, Hallway no longer is displayed on my phone.
