I have had this Nest Learning Thermostat for 3 years and it was working fine.
Last night the thermostat goes dead - it says it needs to shut down for recharging battery. So I detached the unit fro the base and charged it over night with a USB cable. Then I put it back to the display base, and now it says "restarting back in a bit" and then.....10 minutes later, the display is dead, won't wake up no matter if I push down or turn the dial.
I am sure the wiring is correct - like I said, its been running for 3 years. if it was wiring issue it wouldn't work for 3 years. the unit is fully charged after charged with a USB overnight. So now I am not sure what to do.
I have researched similar issue and it turned out it is a pretty common issues amongst nest owners - however, I have not found a working solution that will turn my thermostat on...and we are in the middle of cold winter here without heater turning on!
Any advice you can give to what's next step? this is a $200 thermostat that should last much longer...

Hello Lungshen,
I'm sorry to hear about the issue you're facing with your Nest Learning Thermostat. It's frustrating when a device that's been reliable suddenly stops working, especially in the middle of winter.
Firstly, ensure that the thermostat is seated properly on the base and that there's no debris or obstruction affecting the connection. Tell us if the thermostat prompted any wiring reports or message codes that might relate to power issues. If the issue persists, you might want to try a "hard reset" by holding down the thermostat's display for about 10 seconds until it reboots.
Let me know how it goes.
Regards,
Mark
