Nest Thermostat shutting down & Connectivity issues

Peabody101570

I woke this morning to my Nest reading it was shutting down.  I am currently at work while at home it is charging on the micro USB port.  Also, we have had this for about 1.5 years and it has never connected to our wifi.  It claims it can not find the router.  The router location is directly under the thermostat.

First thing is should I know anything else if the charging does not work when I get home?  Second are there any tips for it to connect to my Wifi.  I have done some trouble shooting and it still will not recognize the wifi or the app.

Thank you in advance...

Matt

Hi Peabody101570,

Thanks for posting in the Google Nest Community forum and for being a step ahead of us. I'd like to know more about it. A few questions: what type of Nest Thermostat do you have? In what country are you located? Do you see any messages or codes on your thermostat? Please gather your thermostat's power readout and share it with us.

Check out this guide:

  1. Go to your thermostat Quick View menu.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Look for Technical Info.
  4. Select Power.

Best,

Jenelyn

Jenelyn...

The power to our Nest is back and running.  I think it was just a battery issue?  However, I will look for the information you requested and return to this chat for assistance.  It does cause an issue not having it connect to our Wifi.

Hi there,

Chiming in—does your thermostat's network settings show an error message or code? or does it show any errors on the app as you try to connect the thermostat to it?

Regards,

Zoe
