. Morning all.

I have the basic nest thermostat which said online that it was compatible with my system, however on the nest app it says its not. Is there any way i can wire this up? I have a red wire to RC and a black wire to RH. Thanks. nest wiring.jpg

Hi there,

@grilis, thanks for posting in the Google Nest Community forum. I'd like to take a closer look at it. A few questions: what type of Nest Thermostat do you already have? In what country are you located? What is the make and model of your system? Are you aware if your system has a dual transformer?

I appreciate the help, @Jaytech.

Best,

Jenelyn

Hi Jenelyn.

I currently i have a white Rodgers (Enbridge) thermostat. I am located in Canada and my furnace is Distinctions Amana, as far as i know i don't think its a duel transformer, but I'm not sure. Thanks for the reply.

Hello there grilis,

Thanks for that information. I'd like to ensure if you have a dual or single transformer, and we can find it out based on the wires connected to your system's control board. Do you mind sending another photo of it? This time make sure to capture the labels of the wires more clearly, so I can check.

Kind regards,

Jenelyn

Hi folks,

@grilis, thanks for posting here in the Community forum and for showing interest in our Nest Thermostats. Fortunately, your thermostat wires are compatible with our Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd generation and should be wired to the Nest Learning Thermostat as follows:

  • RC wire to RC
  • RH wires to RH
  • G wire to G
  • W wire to W1
  • Y wire to Y1

Take note that a jumper wire is not needed for Nest Thermostats, so disregard it. Also, here's a guide for the installation and setup of a Nest Learning Thermostat

Let us know if that works.

Thanks for your help, @Jaytech and Jenelyn.

Regards,

Zoe

Hi Zoe.

Thank you for your reply, Unfortunately i do not have the learning nest. I have the basic nest, so i don't have spaces for RC and RH wires.nest 1.jpg

                                   Thanks.

Hi there,

I see. In this case, a Nest Thermostat 2020 isn't compatible with your dual-transformer system. You may return your Nest Thermostat 2020 to the store where you bought it in exchange for a Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd generation.

Thanks,

Zoe
