Nest Thermostat

I am looking for a replacement back plate, the one that is attached to the thermostat not the one that attaches to the wall. The 2 small white tabs that are supposed to hold it in place are broken off, from when it was installed i believe. I have looked online but my Google searching is not the best.Thank you

You will not be able to purchase that part new, as the thermostat's serial number is located there. You will see the number starts with 09AA. The only way you will solve the problem is to buy a used thermostat, or if your lucky, [and I have never seen one listed on ebay for example] purchase a faulty display to salvage the part.

Where are you located? UK - USA for example?

Hi folks,

@Wayne5, thanks for reaching out to us, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. I want to check if you are still in need of any help. If so, please answer the following:

  • Is the product new, or has it been installed or working for some time?
  • Did you accidentally damage the device? If so:
  • Did you drop the device?
  • Did you remove the cover or disassemble it for any reason?
  • Where was the product purchased?

I'll look forward to your response.

I appreciate your help, @Frustratedddd

Best,

Zoe

Product is about a year old and was included with the air conditioning package we had installed about a year ago. It has not been dropped or taken apart either. I believe the issue arose from when it was installed however the company that did the install is denying it was their fault. The reason I noticed there was something wrong was that the thermostat never sat parallel to the wall, I thought this was normal until I saw a friend of ours same device and saw it was parallel to the wall.

Thank you

That has taken some breaking, as they do not damage easily. I am suprised the display managed to stay on the wall with the 2 clips missing!

I have taken dozens of 3rd Gen displays apart, and never managed to break the tabs off. The only way they break is if they are levered against the dial, when people are unaware how the back plate comes apart.

I would suggest you tell the installer they are responsible, as you have no reason to remove the back plate. Within a year of installation the installer is liable anyway, unless they can prove you damaged the item.

Do you by any chance have a picture of the display when first installed, as that will be proof it's not laying flat on the wall. The 2 tabs, did they fall out when you removed from the wall? Obviously if they did not, then you are in the clear!
