I had a low battery warning on my nest thermostat it uses AA. The batteries were new 2 months ago. I removed one then put it back in and placed the head of the thermostat back on. All is working correctly. Here is my question how long do the batteries typically last? And can I used lithium instead of alkaline batteries?

Hi Sandym1,
Thanks for checking it with us. Under normal operating conditions, the battery life is expected to last for about 2 years. For systems that don't use a C wire, the average battery life is about 3 to 6 months. However, depending on the Wi-Fi activity on the thermostat, the battery life might last longer or shorter.
Also, lithium batteries aren’t recommended. You can use store-bought or off-the-shelf AAA 1.5 V alkaline batteries.
Please let me know if you still have questions in mind.
Best,
Jenelyn
