Nest W2 wire

So I entered all my wires in the app including W2 but when it came to showing me where to put each wire the diagram in the app showed all the other correct wires but instead of W2 it showed W1 in the left bottom connection. Is it ok to put the W2 wire there? I even went back and confirmed I had selected the W2 wire in the app

Hi Nancy5,

Thanks for reaching out. I'd love to know more about this. Could you share a photo of your current thermostat's wiring?

Thanks,
Mel

Hello there,

I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Please let me know if you are still having any trouble from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark, it appears to be working but I thought it strange that all the wires in the diagram in the app matched up except it showed W1 while I had entered W2 when you select which wires are in the old thermostat.

Hi Nancy5,

Sounds great! A wiring report or the inability to trigger your heater may result from incorrect wiring configuration. But I appreciate you for updating us on your efforts to figure out what caused the issue.

Feel free to let us know if you have more questions in mind.

Best,

Mark

I am still not sure it's right. Why does the app show me where to put the W1 wire instead of the W2 I selected that I have? I never selected the W1 wire in the setup process

Hi there,

I got it. I'm sorry for the confusion — let's see what's going on.

Could you please send us a picture of your thermostat base showing how the wires are being installed? Also, a screenshot on the app shows the wiring diagram.

I'll look forward to your response.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark, I think I am ok now. I reinstalled and see I was confused by the step explaining which label to put on the wires versus what was the original designation in the old thermostat. Thanks for reaching out.
