Hello guys, I am wiring up my Google Nest Thermostat. I have a separate heating and cooling system. Which means I have a separate RH and RC wires. How would I wire this into the Nest. There is only 1 R spot in the plate. If anyone can answer that it would be most helpful! Thank you!

Hello Francoconco,
Wiring up your Google Nest Thermostat with separate heating and cooling systems can be a bit tricky, but I'm here to help.
In this scenario, you'll need to connect both the RH (for heating) and RC (for cooling) wires to the single R spot on the Nest Thermostat plate. The Nest Learning Thermostat is designed to handle both functions.
If you have a dual-transformer system, it's strongly recommended that you contact a local HVAC professional to prevent damage to your system. If you encounter any issues or have further questions, feel free to ask. Good luck with your Nest Thermostat installation!
Warm regards,
Mark

Thank you Mark!
I know I do not have a dual transformer system. I just want to make sure that putting the 2 wires together doesnt cause the AC to run while operating the Heat or Vise Versa. This is an old home with floor board heaters that added forced Air conditioning.

Hi there,
It's great that you're being cautious about your HVAC system. Mixing up the wires can indeed cause issues with the operation of your HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) system. To ensure the proper functioning and safety of your system, it's best to contact a local HVAC technician for the wiring configuration, unless you have the Nest Learning Thermostat that can handle both power wires in Rc and Rh terminals.
Safety comes first, and seeking professional guidance can save you from potential issues and ensure a comfortable and safe environment in your home.
Best regards,
Mark
