Nest activates AC unit but does not blow through vents

3 months ago my Nest stopped regulating the temperature and would consistently blow (winter time so only hot air). It would be set to 22C but would get up to 30C because it wouldn’t stop. Only way to correct it was to shut off the furnace (power switch). Even shutting off the Nest the furnace would still run. Contacted HVAC technician and no issue with furnace, installed a new relay. It worked just fine. Springtime came and I switched the setting from Heat to “Heat and Cool”. It was working for a period of time no problem. Then acted up again. Shut off the furnace by the power switch and because it was becoming spring I didn’t need the heat on. After being off for about a week I needed heat and called the technician again, when the furnace was turned on again it started working just fine. Technician recommended if I have further issues I switch to an Echo but I’d rather try to fix the problem first. Last week it was working on the “Heat and Cool” setting and it was working properly but I noticed a rattling but it was the cover of the drain pipe that was next to the furnace bouncing against the floor. As the noise wasn’t related to the unit I ignored it.

suddenly the furnace shut off entirely. Now the following happens with the following settings:

“Heat and Cool” nothing activates (furnace not AC) and nothing blows through the vents

”Heat” furnace works no problem and blows through vents

”Cool” AC unit turns on but nothing blows through the vents.

I have the 3rd generation if that helps.  What can I do next?

Hello @Jazhn0618,

Thanks for posting in the community.

That's incredibly frustrating! It sounds like your Nest thermostat has been giving you a run for your money with these inconsistent heating and cooling issues. I would also like to know if you are able to see any error code on the thermostat; that's a clear clue that the issue is with the thermostat; otherwise, based on what you described, it seems the issue is directly with the HVAC system. The recommendation would be to do some maintenance to make your HVAC work again. You can get a technician by visiting this link. Find a Nest Pro technician

Please let me know how it goes. Thank you.

Regards,

Jorge.
