Nest app had trouble connecting to the Nest service. Unable to add a Nest sensor device.

I have 2 temperature sensors, but they are no longer connected to the thermostat. I tried removing them and re-adding them, but unable to do so in the process.

At the end of adding the temperature sensor to the thermostat, I get the error "The app had trouble connecting to the Nest service. Try again." I did try several times on multiple days - but no use.

Is Nest no longer supporitng temperature sensors. What should I do with my investment on this?

Hi SV2,

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. I want to check if you are still in need of any help. If so, please answer the following:

  • Has the device been paired before?
  • When and from where was the device purchased?
  • How far have you gotten in pairing your device?
  • How far is the device from the router?
  • Can you connect to the internet with other devices?
  • Are there any other devices that experience issues with the Wi-Fi?
  • Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the device you want to pair? Those devices could interfere with the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth signal.
  • Do you see any code that appears on the app as you try to add the device to it?

Keep us posted.

Best,

Zoe

Yes, it was paired before but stopped working. I kept the thermostat and the sensor in a feet distance but still they wouldn't recognize. There is no Wi-Fi problem in that area as the router is also across a few feet away. Internet is working as normal. I tried rebooting the router, and resetting the thermostat - none of them resulted any positive outcomes.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop and for being a step ahead of us. Please try to remove your Nest Thermostat from the app and perform an account connection reset. After that, reinstall your Nest app. Once the app is already installed, add your thermostat back to the account followed by your Nest Temperature Sensor.

You can follow the guide below to perform Account Connection reset:

  1. Go to your thermostat Quick View menu.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Look for Reset.
  4. Select Account Connection.
  5. Reconnect your thermostat to the Network.

If the issue persists, try to use a different mobile device to add your Nest devices.

I appreciate the input, Zoe.

Regards,

Jenelyn

Hi I am having the same issue.

Yes it was paired previously then just stopped working out of nowhere so i assumed it was the battery and changed it. It wouldn’t reconnect so i deleted it and tried to re add and now keep getting this error. I have the sensor within a foot from the thermostat and it still can’t pair. I bought it on amazon, may 15 2022. It stopped working around April of 2023. Please help.
