I know there are a lot of thread about this issue. But I wanna contribute my own experience of it. If anyone knows the solution or has the same experience, please share!
Device: Nest Learning Thermostats Gen 3
Internet/Wifi: AT&T Internet Air
Router: AT&T All-Fi Hub
Trouble Shooting Steps:
Nest thermostat and Nest App works just fine when thermostat is connected to my phone's hotspot.
Created a guest wifi (2.4gHz) and connect thermostat to it doesn't work out.
Tried to assign a fix ip address to thermostat when connecting to guest wifi doesn't work out. (Seems like for guest wifi you can't assign fix ip address).
Performance step 3 when connecting to the main Wifi (2.4/5 gHz) and assign fix ip address. Fix ip address is correctly assigned but doesn't work out.
Make my phone's hotspot the same name and same password. Unplug the router, connect to my phone, plugin the router, disable hotspot, connect to wifi. Doesn't work out.
Tried to set guest wifi DNS to Google DNS (8.8.4.4 or 8.8.8.8) doesn't work out
I suppose this gotta do with the 5g home internet thing. Because seems like the wifi has jumping ip address due to the fact that it is picking up 5g signal from the nearest 5g tower.
Has anyone using a 5g home internet, for example: At&t, version, and etc... Experience this issue and have you guys fixed it?
Update: I am stupid, I blocked thermostats in my wifi setting...
