Nest has stopped charging properly

LanaB
Community Member

After less a year of having the 3rd Gen. Nest, it has decided not to charge properly.  The battery is 3.671 V, the Voc is 8.34 V, the Vin is 8.34 V and the lin is 20mA (a).  Any suggestions on why/what to do to correct this issue?

Thanks, Lana

I contacted the company that installed our HVAC system and they had failed to connect the C wire, I believe, but they came and connected it and our Nest works great! Thanks! Lana B

Is there a C wire installed?

Some HVAC systems just don't like the way Nest keeps the internal battery charged and only a C wire will fix it.

  • Nest thermostats are designed to work without a common ("C") wire in most homes. During installation, a small number of customers may find that the Nest Thermostat does not receive sufficient power. The Nest Power Connector or a C wire may be necessary. See g.co/nest/cwire for details.
