Hello! We are replacing our Hunter thermostat with a Nest. After re-connecting the wires to the Nest, we have extra wires (E, L) with no where to put them. Not sure what to do with these. Any ideas???

kcwright,
you have a heat pump, and the E was your Auxiliary/Emergency heat wire. The L wire was for an LED light in the old thermostat that would illuminate when the Emergency Heat was active. When to used the Online Nest Configuration tool, it should have directed you where to put the E wire. As to the L wire, just tuck it back in the hole in the wall.
