Nest learning thermostat does not show up on Google Home app

Hi There, my nest learning thermostat I can only setup and see it from the Nest App on my iPhone. I tried setting it up several times from the Google Home app, but it would not show up and Google Home app gives up. I tried factory reset etc. a few times.

I could have lived with continuing to use the Nest app for controlling the thermostat. However, now as I am trying to add my other family members to give access, the nest app pops up a message that “new member can only be added in the Google Home app”.

So I am stuck now because Google Home app does not even show the Nest Thermostat, and Nest app that shows Thermostat does not allow adding any family members. Please help…

I have this exact same problem but on Android

Like Spacey, I too have this problem. Turned off all other Bluetooth devices. Stood right next to the thermostat to ensure no interference.
Still it can’t find it. Very frustrating!

Hello everyone,

Just one quick final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need help, I would be happy to keep it open. If there's more we can do, just let me know.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer and Mel.

Some customers have been able to get their thermostat to appear in the Google Home app by adding their thermostat to a "room" in the Google Nest app. Others have tried creating a temporary second Google Nest "home/structure" in the Google Nest app, then going to that new and empty second "home" in the Google Home app and deleting it; it seems this can force the two apps to sync and cause the thermostat to appear in the Google Home app.

Just sorted mine. Turns out I had two ‘homes’ in the Google app. One was named as my actual address and the other was named as ‘home’. Looked in ‘home’ and there it was!

Hey folks,

Thanks for the help, MplsCustomer and Allante666.

To all, I suggest checking if you have multiple homes in your Home app to check if your device is in another home.

Best,

Mel

Hi there,

I eventually worked out how to add a home/structure in the Nest thermostat app, and in the Google home app.

Then I deleted it as suggested and hey presto my Neat thermostat appeared in my Google Hime app.
Bingo!
Thank you.
