Nest learning thermostat screen color

I thought the nest thermostat screen would light up orange when set to heat mode and light up blue when set to cooling mode. Mine is black, and when it lights up, it’s black. Other than that everything is working fine so far. Just installed today and it is connected to a c wire.

Replying to my own question. I turned up the heat this morning and the screen did turn orange.

so I realize the screen color is only on when the Heat or ac is actually running.
