Nest not working after September 2023 update

Can longer control my device with my Alexa smart home. Stupid they did that update just to make it no longer work. I re-added it and I can see it in my Alex app and control it from my app but voice controls will no longer work.

So only want to use it is via Alexa app, Google App, or Nest app. All I want is voice control with smart home. I removed it and re added and reset the skill many times. It acts like it works when I tell it something but doesn’t actually do it.

@Spin1337

Is this Google Nest Post about the Google Nest Skill for Alexa, highlighted at the top of this forum, of any help to you?

(Since we weren't using the "Works with Nest" function, I don't know whether this replaces it nor not.)

I did not remove all devices from my app, i can try that. I only removed the thermostat as thats all im having problems with. Its going to be a lot of work to remove all my devices. I feel like google as grasping at what ever to try and fix this failed update. I can see Im not the only one with problems. Thank u for the link, I guess I will find the time to reset up my entire automated home network devices. Wish they could figure it out better not even sure that will work....

@Spin1337

Why would you need to remove all of your Google Nest devices from the Google Nest app?

As best as I can tell, all Google Nest did was to remove support for the "Works with Nest" capability, which allowed smart home devices from other manufacturers to work with Google Nest devices.  And for those, I think you can try the "Works with Google" option that I linked to above.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for the delay. I just want to check if you managed to see the response above. Were you able to try to use the "Works with Google" instead? Please let us know how it goes.

I appreciate your input, @MplsCustomer.

Best,

Jenelyn

No I did the Alexa skill like it said but it is no longer working with Alexa after they canceled works with nest. 😞 Makes me want to return the product but its to late for that...

Hello Spin1337,

I’m sorry for the trouble this has caused you. Let me help you out. Just to check: Which app do you use to access your thermostat? Is your account already migrated to Google? Do you use the same email address on your Alexa app as your Google Nest account?

I look forward to your response.

Best,
Edmond

I did and its not working with a Amazon Alexa that I use for my smart home. It worked fine before the removed works with nest. It now no longer works. I did the things they said to re link it. It acts like it works makes the sound like it changed tempter when I ask but it dose nothing. I used to tell it to raise, lower, or set a temp for me. I can no longer do that and now I need to do it via my nest app on my phone or manually change it on the thermostat... Very disappointed its not working even after full factory reset and re install / setup. I can see by searching I'm not the only one with this problem.
