Nest power connector for multizone system

Hi - Looking for help on setting up nest power connector for nest thermostats in a multizone, heating-only system. I have 4 thermostats in house, but am only planning on installing nests for 3 of them. There is no c-wire, so I understood that I need to put in power connectors (I tried without and it kept giving me insufficient power error).

  1. I assume the terminal on the R upper corner of the board that says 'common' is the common / c-wire terminus? Photo here.

  2. I understand that I need a separate power connector for each zone? (I don't know why there are 5 zones wired on the panel but we only have 4 zones/thermostats that I know about, but let's leave that aside for moment).

  3. Do I connect the c-wire limb of all 3 power connectors to that single common terminal? if so, how?

Thanks

Hiya ulysesmg,

Thanks for posting in our community.

Installing Nest power connectors on a multi zone system can get a little confusing, but don't worry, help's here.

Since the terminal is labeled common on your board, it's likely the C-wire terminal. However, please double-check your zone controller's manual for the common wire designation.

You'll need a separate Nest Power Connector for each of the three thermostats. Even though your board has wires for five zones, focus on the wiring that connects to your specific thermostat. That's the wiring your power connector will work with.

Electrical work on the common terminal can be risky if not done properly. I recommend checking this site for one of our recommended technicians to get it sorted out safely.

If you encounter any difficulties during installation, you can always refer to the Nest Power Connector installation instructions.

Remember, safety is key. If you're unsure about any step, I suggest seeking professional help to ensure a proper installation.

Regards,
Angel.

Thanks for your reply.  I would be interested in professional help but unfortunately Ontech does not service my area.

If each power connector has to attach to the common terminal, is there something that helps attach multiple lead to a single terminal screw, like a splitter or something?
