When you install the Nest Learning Thermostat in the Google Nest app, it should AUTOMATICALLY appear in the Google Home app, as long as you are using the same Google Account to log into both apps and are accessing the same Google Nest "home/structure" in both, and have assigned your thermostat to a "room" in the Google Nest app

In the last few months, quite a few customers in this forum have reported this is not happening. What many have done to fix the problem is this:  In the Google Nest app, create a temporary second Google Nest "home/structure". Then, in the Google Home app go to that temporary empty Google Nest "home/structure" and delete it. It seems this forces the 2 apps to sync and the thermostat then appears in the Google Home app.

Thank you, it worked,  I had to setup  a new home in the nest app as in the home app and restart the setup of the thermostat  in the new home and suddenly there was my thermostat  in my new house in the home app and then deleted  the other  2 house  in both  the apps 😀 😄,  thank you very much for the fantastic advice

I have the same issue. It doesn't automatically appear. It won't find the device and any troubleshooting relates to once it's already set up. Before adding it to Google Home, you can't do a single thing on the thermostat because it's not set up.

@Jessie21

If you have the same issue (where you've installed a Nest Learning Thermostat in the Google Nest app but it's not automatically appearing in the Google Home app), did you try what other customers have done, as I described in my earlier reply?

It didn't work for me. It spins and spins saying Connecting, then says "something went wrong" and it still won't find it....

@MplsCustomer it's a regular nest thermostat. I didn't have a sign-on issue. I only recently installed Google Home for other non-Google apps and installed the Nest app at the time I went to install. Though for the heck of it, I did add another home and it made no difference so I deleted it off both apps. I thought it could be used as a regular thermostat as well if you chose not to do the smart option (though I plan to use it as it should be), but I can't access anything on the thermostat until it's set up in Home. It only tells me to complete setup in Home, where it doesn't find it and tells me it may need a system reset, which I cannot do until it's set up because I can't access any functions on it.

Also, I can't even add it to the Nest app because it tells me to go through Home. So it's not added to any app because it doesn't appear.

*update: called Google support. No solution. It's faulty. They're replacing it. I bought 2 that do the same thing.
