Nest temperature not dropping

Hello! Our AC has been on all day and by using a meat thermometer, I was able to determine the room is 66 degrees, but the nest has been stuck at reading 71 degrees for hours. We have had this device since 2016 and have not had this happen before. I had already resent it once today and also did a restart- both did not fix the issue.

Hi @Katums1398,

That sounds frustrating! There are a couple of reasons why your Nest thermostat might be stuck reading 71 degrees while your room is actually 66 degrees. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Check the Nest Schedule: First, verify if you have any scheduled temperature changes set on the Nest. Maybe a cooler temperature is programmed for a later time. You can check and adjust the schedule on the Nest app or the thermostat itself.

  2. Check the Nest App Connection: Ensure your Nest thermostat is communicating properly with the app. A weak Wi-Fi connection or app glitch could be causing inaccurate readings. Try restarting your Wi-Fi router and relaunch the Nest app.
  3. Consider a Hard Reset: If none of the above solutions work, you might need to perform a hard reset on your Nest thermostat. This will erase all settings and configurations. Before resetting, make sure to note down any schedules or preferences you want to restore later. Refer to your Nest user manual or the app for specific hard reset instructions for your model.

If for some reason you still have the same issue don't hesitate to let us know.

Regards,

Mario.
