Nest thermostat Ring Turns cant select Choice

I can turn the ring on the thermostat to get anywhere  but when I push in to select a choice, it doesn't do anything. It is stiff and you can tell it's not giving. If you want to try yours, take it off the wall and press the inside. It should give a little and click. Mine doesn't do anything. I took it all the way down to the battery and dont see anything physically broken. I have the system since 2018. Please help!

Hi Harligrl2,

 

Thanks for posting and sorry for the delay ― let's get this sorted out.

 

Give these steps a whirl:

 

Push an hold your Nest Thermostat's display to restart it.

Use a screwdriver to loosen the screws of the base by a half or quarter of a (counter clockwise) turn. This should help if the base is screwed too tightly to the wall.

That's the issue, you can't push it to select any choice. The wheel turns but does not give any at all to make a selection.  I have 2 since 2019 so the base hasn't moved.

You know how you turn the bezel wheel to go through the main menu then you press the bottom to select.  Mine doesn't press in to select anymore. I can take my other Nest thermostat and put it on there and it selects fine so its not the mount.  I wish i could send a short video.
