Hi so I have a Carrier thermostat with 7 wires. The one in question I believe is the one marked Y/Y2. My furnace and AC system is a Payne, here is a picture. I have a red wire with a little jumper wire connecting Rh & Rc. White on W and Black on C. Green on G and Blue on Y/Y2. Orange on O/B and Yellow on Y1. I would greatly appreciate any help with compatibility

Current wiring set up: you have Y1, Y/Y2, jumper wire for Rh & Rc, then W, C, G, and O/B - 8 wires
For this set up, since you have stage 1 and stage 2 for cooling. Your thermostat should be Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd Gen.
Since for NLT 3rd gen wiring set up, this should be your wiring set up: Y1, Y2, O/B, C, G, W1 then for Rc/Rh either try putting it in Rc (one wire only, no jumper).
Your system is dual fuel, it looks like you have a heat pump and furnace. Correct me if I'm wrong.

So it seems like you know way more then me lol, im in construction but HVAC is definitely my weak suit. I know I have a furnace and AC unit, not sure about the heat pump side of it. I was only going to get the nest because my gas company is giving them out for free.

That's okay. If possible, we can check the model of your AC, that might be a heat pump. What is the model of your Nest Thermostat? Does it look like a mirror display, or does it have a metal ring display that you can turn?
