I received a nest thermostat as a gift. (sku ga02083-us) It is not a Nest learning thermostat. I have a heat pump with a propane emergency/aux back up. I've looked at quite a few forums and videos and it doesn't look like the thermostat I have will work with my system. Can somebody help verify if that is the case or not.

Do you have a photo of your current thermostat wiring set-up? Kindly reply the photo to this thread if you do.

Hi Crs,
Thanks for the response. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with wiring your Nest Thermostat. The model that you have works with single stage heat pumps with AUX heat. If you haven't yet, try the following wiring:
White - W
Red - R
Orange - OB
Yellow - Y
Green - G
C wire - C
You can also click on this link to learn about the systems that would work with the Nest Thermostat.
Thanks,
Edward

I don't know if I have a single stage or dual stage heat pump. There are extra existing wires that I don't know where they would connect to on the nest thermostat. Still doing research.

I tried attaching a photo but for some reason I can't figure out why it won't let me. Here is a link to my existing thermostat.
