I’ve had the nest thermostat for over a year no problems. About 2 months ago it started to randomly disconnect from wifi (no changes to wife or furnace) I checked all my connection (normal) checked the voltage from all wires (normal)
I have: y c w g r wires
Displayed on nest unit:
battery voltage: 3.16v
impedance 872Ohm
vin: 34
lin: 385
PS: c-385
i contacted google they sent me another unit. Powered it on and set it all up and it reads the same thing and randomly disconnects me from wifi.
Any idea on what could be wrong?

I'm having this too! They blamed it on WIFI interference with the IoT around and I've had mine for 4-5 years... I thought mine was age and just posted a new thread asking about that... The software looks like it was last updated early May 2022... So there is nothing new there, but I know they have been doing a lot with the other home products... I'm wondering if something with the home hubs or software are causing a lot of new poling to the hardware somehow.. I don't have a C-WIRE but I've used Nest hardware since the first generation though now. Its just recently acting up and draining fast to kick me off even with manual charge ups... Getting into early months of winter here in the north east has me concerned... I'm like ready to yank it and put an old fashion thermostat with AA batteries! UGH!

Hello folks,
I'm sorry to hear that your Nest Thermostats keep disconnecting from your Wi-Fi networks. I'd be happy to take a look into this.
@Dmelito, I appreciate that you've tried to find a fix. Could you provide us the Case ID from your previous interaction with our team?
@iNexxFear, it appears that you have either the Nest Learning Thermostat or the Nest Thermostat E. A few questions: does the thermostat display show any codes or messages? Can your device find your Wi-Fi network name (SSID)? Also, please check the power status under technical info and give these steps a try:
Let us know how it goes.
Best regards,
Mark

Hi Mark, thanks for the response. Not sure of my Case ID at this time but will look for it. Might be in my emails somewhere. I have the nest learning thermostat with the touch bar on the side with two AAA batteries. Google sent me a new thermostat, which I installed about a week ago. I made no changes to my wiring but I did move my modem/router within about 5ft (previously it was maybe 10-15ft with no error messages on thermostat and app) of the thermostat. All my other devices are able to pick up a good wifi signal and function fine anywhere in my house with the modem/router in each location. So far the new thermostat has not dropped wifi signal so I will continue to monitor over the next several weeks. The only issue I'm continuing to find with both the old and new thermostat, is my battery volts read 3.17v. When I get a free minute I will move my modem/router back to its original location and try the steps you suggested.
In response to your questions;
No codes or messages (never had them)
Yes it shows wifi network name (SSID)
One last thing I did add a new baby monitor to my wifi (a little while ago) and use it daily so not sure if that could be an issue. Just crazy the nest thermostat drops wifi connection after working fine for a year with modem within 15ft but thanks again for your help. Hope we can find a solution.

Hello there,
Thanks for letting me know, Dan. I appreciate that you've tried to find a fix. Please continue monitoring your thermostat behavior and keep us posted if the same issue persists.
@iNexxFear, I'm checking back in. Were you able to do the steps above? I'd be glad to hear from you, and I'd like to make sure everything is working.

Thanks for checking back. So far so good!
So basically all I’ve done so far is install the new thermostat I was sent and move my modem/router as close as I could to my thermostat (<5ft). Appreciate the help!

Also, still trying to figure out why my thermostat is reading 3.17v since google support states it needs to read >3.7v but hey it’s staying connected to wifi…

Hello Dmelito,
I'm glad to hear that it resolved the issue, and I appreciate all the steps you have taken.
The battery level 3.7V power readout is only applicable to Nest Learning Thermostats and Nest Thermostat E. You have the 2020 model, which is different from the earlier versions, and its power readings are still good. Also, based on the battery health on your thermostat (impedance: 872 ohm), it's lower than 1500 mΩ (milliohms). This impedance is an indicator that the batteries are in good condition and don’t need to be replaced yet.
So please keep monitoring its behavior and let us know if the issue still persists.
Thanks,
Mark
