Nest thermostat display

Hi. I haven’t found a picture like my current display on one of 3 Nest thermostats. It’s working fine. I rebooted, reconnected, everything without success. Though the thermostat is working, this is annoying! I changed to “wake to press” to keep it off. Minor issue, admittedly. Thanks.—David

Looks like the ribbon connection from the screen to the mother board, not connecting very well.

Thanks! That’s what I thought! (No, I’m kidding). Thank you. Any info online about how to fix the ribbon connection from the screen to the motherboard? Or is that beyond my simple screwdriver skills? Worth fixing? THANKS. —-DG

I would find it very easy, but I fix them all the time! (Easy when you know how, joke) Depending how old your display is, and if under warranty I wouldn’t touch it, just contact Nest.

However if your skills with a screwdriver are good, to get that part is 6 screws. Be very careful of the ribbon cable as they can tear very easy. When inside you will see another ribbon connector, brown in colour on the main board. There is a multi connector connecting the screen to the main board, it has a white line which should be located correctly in that connector. You can tell if located correctly, the white line is hardly visible.

Usually that ribbon only comes loose if someone has been inside  before or if the display has been dropped for example. Long shot, but if in warranty don’t touch it.
