Nest thermostat hot water

Gavin1976

Hello. I’m having a problem with the hot water setting on my nest thermostat. There doesn’t appear to be any obvious error message. Heating works fine. But when I try and boost hot water, or it comes on via the timer, it says the boost/hot water is active but it remains greyed our rather than going orange and it doesn’t work.

I saw someone’s advice saying to reset the thermostat, and weirdly that then seems to work for a minute or two and hot water goes orange, but then it greys out again.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sadly there is nothing wrong with your thermostat. WELL, so Google say!!!

I have been trying for 6 years for Google to get this error sorted, but they are NOT interested.

You will find when your set the Hot water will be in orange for about 2-5 mins, then revert back to grey with the words ON. Would that be correct? [This will only work after a new install or a reset]

I assume you have the thermostat either wireless only or wireless/wired, correct?

The ONLY way you will get the orange to stay orange is to use wired only. For some reason the display stays orange wired only, but all other ways it will not.

Does all that make sense?

Most users are unaware of this, but IF everyone starts moaning, perhaps Google might do something!!!

Not even the Google advisors on here are aware of this issue I would think.

Come on Google, 6 years, and you STILL have not solved this software issue after you promissed me you would all those years ago.

Thanks for reaching out to us here @Gavin1976 . I am sorry to hear you are facing difficulties with your thermostat and I would be happy to try and assist.

Just to confirm, you mentioned that the icon in the Nest app is grey and states that it is on, correct? When this occurs do you hear any activity from your water tank or boiler, like it would be active?

Also, after you boost it manually, do you see a water drop icon on the thermostat display itself? It would be under the set temperature on the display.

Thank you for your input @Frustratedddd . Rest assured that I'll do my best to look into what may be going on.
