Nest thermostat offline

Stcroix
Community Member

Both my nest thermostats completely went offline at the same time. I tried everything, reset, connect to a diff network and finally removed it from my account.

I have also restarted my router. Ensured WiFi works as well.

I have a nest thermostat & and nest E thermostat.

Now I can’t add it back, keep giving me can’t connect to WiFi network TD007 error.

Anyone experiencing similar issues?

Any help is appreciated.

I am having same issue. My error message says Nest app having trouble communicating with the network. It was working fine for several years, then suddenly just dropped off.

Same issue.  Rebooted my network and thermostat.  It does seem to connect here and there but then goes offline.  It started to have issue around 2:00-3:00am on 7/23/23.  All other nest and google devices are online.

Is it a sign of end of life w.r.t support for these devices? I have a netgear 7500. Trying to see if this issue is related to router.

Hello folks,

I'm sorry to hear you're all having issues reconnecting your Nest Thermostats to your Wi-Fi networks. Let's sort this out.

Power-related issues or any recent changes with the router settings could be possible reasons why it won't reconnect. To isolate:

  • Could you tell us the Nest Thermostat model with which you're having an issue?
  • How far away is the thermostat from the router?
  • Were there any recent changes to the WiFi?
  • Does it show any message codes or reports?
  • What are your other Google Nest devices?
  • Please gather the power readouts in the Technical Info settings.

Lastly, give these steps a try and let us know if they work:

  1. Go to Reset Settings > Account Connection > Reset to confirm.
    1. This will disable the network connection and disconnect the existing account.
  2. If the thermostat's battery level is at 3.7 Volts, charge its display for an hour and ensure that all wires on its base are still properly connected before plugging it back in.
  3. Then, try reconnecting it to the WiFi in the Network settings manually.
  4. If it goes online, remove the thermostat itself from the Nest app and proceed with adding it back again.

Keep us posted.

Regards,
Mark

Hey there,

I don't want to be a nudge, but I'd like to check if you were able to get your thermostat working. Feel free to reach back if you still need help.

Thanks,
Mark

I could not get the Nest app to work. I did get the thermostats moved over to Google home which is working. It is not as user friendly as the Nest app was.

Sorry for the delayed response as I was a little swamped. I was able to try out adding my second thermostat as it was in a reset state for while. Wohoo! I was able to successfully add it to the Nest account using the Nest app. I also checked the status of my first thermostat which I added a while back using hotspot, thou I reverted to having it connect to my WiFi after adding it to my nest account. Now both the thermostats show up in my Nest app.
Till a while back, the first thermostat used to show as offline in my nest app.

It also shows up in my google home app as how it used to in the past.

Not sure where the issue was, but something, somewhere started working (got fixed) the how it used to.

Hi everyone,

@Stcroix, I appreciate the update on what you've done to reconnect your Nest Thermostat back to the Wi-Fi network and add your second Nest Thermostat to the app. In the meantime, monitor their behavior, and if anything comes up with their connections, let us know.

@JSIMP5, I understand that the Google Home app can be confusing. Please try uninstalling and reinstalling the Nest app on your phone and ensuring that the app permissions in your phone's settings are enabled. Then, try checking to see if the thermostat is up and running. Keep me posted.

Regards,
Mark

Hey folks,

I'm checking back in. For those who're still having an issue with their thermostat going offline, Were you able to do the steps above? I'd be glad to hear from you; I'd like to make sure everything is working.

Mark
