Nest thermostat reboot loop

Borg
Community Member

I have 3 Nest thermostats in the house, and the 1st floor one is stuck in a boot loop and I can’t connect to it. It had said the batteries were low, I checked the breaker, checked the wiring, and replaced the batteries. It was working on and off, but now it just keeps rebooting and shows as offline.

I switched the 3rd floor Nest thermostat with the 1st floor one, and the 3rd floor one works just fine on the same mounting that the 1st floor one was on. And the former 1st floor one still isn’t working when hooked up on the 3rd floor. So I know it’s not the wiring.

Do I just have a bad unit? It was working fine for the past year.

Hi Borg,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Nest Thermostat. I'd love to know more about this and I have a few questions:

  • How is your Nest Thermostat wired?
  • What type of batteries did you used?
  • When did the issue start?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Edward

I was able to get it working again by removing it from the Home app. Once I removed it, it immediately started up, and I was then able to re-add it to the Home app.

Awesome — glad to hear that your issue is fixed. It looks like we can consider this one complete, so I will lock the thread shortly unless I can help out with anything else.
