Nest thermostat shutting down

Hello,
I have a Nest thermostat 3rd  generation that just started shutting down because of low battery. Please see details below.

  • When was it installed? IT WAS INSTALLED IN 2020
  • Do you have more than one thermostat? If yes, does the situation show up on the other thermostats too? NO, I HAVE ONLY THIS THERMOSTAT
  • Is the thermostat display on a stand? NO, IT IS FIXED ON THE WALL
  • How do you charge it? Directly from the power outlet? IT USED TO CHARGE ITSELF DIRECTLY ON THE WALL (I DID NOT HAVE TO TAKE IT FROM THE WALL, I DID NOT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING), SINCE THE CHARGING ISSUE STARTED I NEED TO TAKE IT OUT FROM THE WALL AND CHARGE IT USING ONE OF THESE NORMAL PHONE CHARGERS DIRECTLY FROM A POWER OUTLET
  • Is there a wiring report or error message on your thermostat and/or app? NO.
  • Do you see a blinking LED light for your Nest Thermostat 3rd Gen? If so, is it red or green? YES! SINCE THE POWER ISSUE STARTED IT WOULD SHOW A RED LIGHT, I WOULD THEN TAKE IT OUT FROM THE WALL AND PUT IT CHARGING ON A POWER OUTLET UNTIL IT SHOWS A GREEN LIGHT, THEN I WOULD PUT IT BACK ON THE WALL WHERE IT WOULD KEEP BLINKING GREEN FOR A DAY OR TWO, LATER IT WOULD SHOW LOW BATTERY/POWER AND BLINK RED.. STARTING THE PROCESS AGAIN 😞
  • Has there been any recent work done on your thermostat(s) or heating system? If yes, when was it? NO

Hi @Javarmo

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand that you were having some issues with the battery of your Nest thermostat. I really appreciate the details you shared with me! They are very helpful. Now let me assist you with this issue!

Before we continue, I'm a little curious: can you tell me how long you charged your thermostat? Also, please check the following information:

  • Step 1: Inspect the thermostat display.
  • Remove the thermostat display from its base and check if any connector pins are bent.
  • Step 2: Ensure that the wires are connected properly.
  • Check if the thermostat wires are secured in their terminals and all the buttons are down.

Once you have this information, I will be more than ready to assist you!

Best Regards,

Debora
