Nest thermostat tempature

Hi,

Is there anyway to get my Thermostat to stay on a certain temp like a normal thermostat? I have to constantly turn it down during the day and by the time I get home from work my whole home is extremely hot.

Hi bailigordon,

Thank you for posting in the community! I understand you want your Nest Thermostat to maintain a consistent temperature until you actively change it, essentially behaving like a traditional thermostat. I'll be delighted to help you achieve this.

I appreciate your time and patience with the need to constantly adjust your thermostat and the inconvenience of finding your home extremely hot when you get home from work.

The ability to hold a temperature is directly available on the Nest Thermostat (4th gen). On the other hand, previous versions of the Nest Learning Thermostat and the Nest Thermostat E, don't have a dedicated 'hold' feature, but you can still achieve a similar effect by disabling certain automatic features, which I can guide you through.

To provide the most accurate assistance, please answer the following questions:

  • What specific Nest thermostat model do you have? - You can find help identifying your model in How to tell which Nest thermostat you have.
  • Do you have a conventional HVAC system (separate furnace and AC unit) or a heat pump system (single unit for heating and cooling)?
  • Have you previously created any temperature schedules with your thermostat?
  • Please also provide a screenshot of your current Home/Away configuration in either your Nest or Google Home app.

I look forward to your answer.

Regards,

Humberto
