The thermostat won’t allow me to change the day and time so everything is off schedule. we had no power failure and internet is connected I set the location in my Nest app on my iphone

I don't know if this would make a difference, but since the Nest Thermostat gets installed in the Google Home app, have you checked your location in the Google Home app?

Problem solved. this was for a generation 2 or3. I was reluctant to do a RESET in fear of losing my schedule. Ended up doing a reset after nobody gave a solution for the issue. reset worked I never lost the schedule I did have to reenter router name and password for the internet connection and reset time date and time zone. back to normal.
