Nest thermostat won’t charge

My battery was low on 2 of my 3 thermostats, so I tried charging them with a usb cord. They both charged up and then died again. Now I cannot get them to charge on the wall or with a usb. I just bought them last year, could the batteries already be dead?

Just an idea, as this happens to the Nest. Try listening to the thermostat!!

Sounds odd, but put your ear on the thermostat dial, and listen carefully for a buzzing/chattering/clicking noise.

Usually, you can charge with the USB and the house comes on, but when placed on the base, screen goes black.
