Nest learning thermostat not sensing presence. We are away and staying in home mode. I have manually chamged to Away from my android phome the past 4 days and when i check back each day it is again in home mode. I have checked activity and there does not seem yo be anyone home that is causing this and there shouldnt be. Why is this happening? 1) not sensing presence. 2) not staying in manually placed Away mode.

Hello aholz11,
Do you use the Google Home app or just the Nest app?
Do you have any other Google devices in your home?
Is location sharing enabled on your phone for the app you are using?
Sometimes it can take a while for your thermostat to recognize if you are at home or not.
For example, pets can activate the thermostat and it thinks someone is there because it detects movement.
Are there multiple people in your household using the thermostat app? Perhaps one of the people has disabled location sharing on the phone for the app?
Please check all of this and let us know if it worked.

Both apps. Checked into all that. Nothing seems inappropriate.

If you turn off Home/Away Assist entirely, does that help? I never use that feature, due to inconsistent behavior. I just turn Eco on and off manually as needed.

In fact there's a Home/Away Assist issue that's been well-known (to this forum) for a few months now. See for example https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Nest-Thermostats/Home-Away-Assist-returning-home-always-stuck... which links to a very long thread from late last year. It may not be the same as your issue, but illustrates that Home/Away Assist seems buggy to a lot of owners.
