Nest thermostat

Nest was great before Google took it over and forced people to use Google Home. Now google have stopped support after forcing people onto it, we should be able to use it remotely on an Android app. Any ideas if this is possible

Google being Google do what they want they don't care, but they did not force anyone to migrate to Google Home. Hoodwinked maybe, but the choice was still the user.

I am still using the original Nest App, and have done for about 13 years, and still working fine.

I agree Google should keep the original thermostats useable, but who will stop them???

if you use it remotely, and need to turn the thermostat up whilst you are away, then you were forced to use google  home. If you only alter the temperature when you are in then the nest is perfect for you and you will not have any reason to change it. What Google  have done will stop me buying anything that uses Google Home, but I somehow think they will  still survive.

How very odd, as I still use my original Nest app remotely for my holiday home! I never agreed to migrate, I carried on ignoring the Google messages, and even today use the original Nest app remote.

The 2nd generation will no longer work remotely after October 25. It won’t be long before they stop the later models working as well. This goes for Europe, no idea about the rest of the world

I take it you have confirmation of them ceasing remote app use for the 3rd Gen thermostat in the future? Remote use with the Nest app as I use in the UK is still working, perhaps you may be mistaken?

They have confirmed that they are transferring all their Nest operations to the USA due to problems in Europe with all the specs. You are fortunate to have a later generation, but it is only a matter of time before you get an email as well. You can google it all online. It will still work fine if you are home, but not remotely.

I thought Google moved all their data stuff from Ireland to the USA in 2020?

A link with that information would be helpfull.

I did ask a question about UK thremostats way back in March, here is the link.
