Nest thermostat

I got this brand new stingless steel nest thermostat little bit over a year and out of nowhere it stopped working. Won’t connect to wifi nor will it turn on my AC/HEATER. I called to see if it could he fixed. All he said was looks like it’s ‘’defective and we can’t do nothing about it but you can go buy the new 4th gen one’’ now I’m stuck with a 200 dollar thermostat that doesn’t work

The rep did not give me a case id just said sorry your nest is not under warranty but you can buy the 4th generation
