My nest thermostat was purchased 4 months ago. Nothing on the package says that it needs to be charged and there is no cord with it. This last month it kept going offline so we couldn't program it from the phone thru the app. Had to keep reconnecting. Then this week it says low battery. So googling that it says just pull it off and change the batterys 2 AAA's except there are not batterys so looking further it says that it has a usb port to charge the unit. So I purchased the cord on amazon for the nest thermostat. Info says it should only take an hour to charge and should last at least two weeks. Try 20 min. Can't run my heat because it keeps going to red blinking light to nothing. So charge again to get another round of heat. The unit also gets hot when charging so have to cool it down so I can get the heat to come on because it is reading that it is 100 degrees. Other posts I have seen is this happens after a couple of years. I have only had it 4 months. Cant seem to get to a customer service person either it keeps putting me in a loop back to contact us. HOW?

Hi Lisa34,
Uh-oh! I'm sorry to hear the difficulties you're facing with your Nest Thermostat and the challenges you've encountered in getting support. While it's unusual for a Nest Thermostat to require charging after only four months, there could be a variety of factors contributing to the issue. Are you located in North America or Europe? What type of Nest Thermostat do you have? And does your thermostat has C wire?
Ensure that you're using a compatible micro-USB cable and power source to charge your Nest Thermostat. Faulty or incompatible accessories can cause charging issues. Try using a different USB cable or power adapter to see if it makes a difference. You may also perform a reset on your Nest Thermostat to restore it to its default settings. Go to Settings > Reset > All Settings. Also, share to us the power readings of your thermostat's Battery, VOC, VIN, and lIN under Settings > Technical Info > Power.
I hope this information helps, and I hope you're able to resolve the charging and connectivity issues with your Nest Thermostat soon.
Let us know how it goes.
Best,
Zoe
