Nest wiring compatibility

Hello, currently have a Rheem (RH1VRP1448AJ1NA) (Heat Pump, not dual fuel) with a Honeywell (THM5421R1021) thermostat. The actual control panel is only 2 wires but the control unit down by the air handler has all the wires, I can run some thermostat cable from the handler to my thermostat and I want to make sure I'm not plugging something in wrong.

Following the setup flow in the app everything is good except for when it asks about backup heat wires (Aux or E). The thermostat has 2 Aux wires (Aux1 and Aux2). Checking with a multimeter (while it's in normal operation) they have 0 resistance between each other on the air handler side so I don't think it matters which one I use but want to double-check if I should use one, the other, or splice them together to go to the nest

Thanks for any help!

Hello bladesbravo,

You might need an HVAC technician for the installation to make sure the correct configuration. Here's how you can locate technicians in your area that can help you with Google Nest products. The cost of the visit would be your responsibility, so it is important that you deal with a qualified professional who works with Nest products.

To request an installation or to fix installation issues, contact Ontech. If there’s anything else I can help you with, please let me know.
