New 3rd gen Nest showing the wrong temperature

Just got a replacement Nest because my old one wouldn’t connect to wifi and was randomly not working.

now the replacement is showing the wrong temperature so the fan won’t kick on. It says that it’s reading the temperature in my apartment as 19C and won’t move from there, and the actual temperature inside is closer to 23 or 24 sometimes when the sun is out. I can turn the fan on manually and it will cool the place down but otherwise the thermostat is basically useless in terms of the features it should have

Can you check to see if you have the sunblock feature enabled ?

It was on, just turned it off. Still showing internal temperature as 19, which can’t be possible because I’m sweating lol

Can you restart the thermostat to see if this helps, and if it does not change, a factory reset would be the next step to rule out a possible software issue.

Also, is the wall the thermostat is mounted on hollow? If so, can you feel a draft coming from the wall when you remove the nest from the base plate?

Restarted it and now it’s showing the temp as 17.5.

I don’t think the wall is the issue, I didn’t have this problem with my last unit (had several other problems with that one though)

also not sure if a factory reset would do much because it is basically a brand new unit (refurbished I imagine, came as a replacement for my faulty unit)

Alrighty well, I'll escalate this to a higher level

Wanted to share a picture, I pulled out my old thermostat which still reads the inside temperature, and here it is next to the nest.

the old thermostat is showing the room as 23 and the Nest thinks it’s 20 so it won’t kick in and cool the place down to the requested temperature of 21.5

Speaking of error codes.....  I have a problem happening right now.  Installed Nest Learning on 1 April.  Ran heat through May, then AC and Heat into June until we went to straight AC for summer.  Multizone heating system (forced hot water) with two Nest E's on other zones.  Testing heating system from Nest Learning on 6 Oct.  Taco box just kept clicking.  Thermostat showing N72 error (no power to Rh).  It's not true.  You will see other posts about this across the web.  Call heating company for PM b/c I assumed the problem was with boiler.  First thing tech said when he arrived was "you have a Nest thermostat, correct?".  He performed the same troubleshoot you did (W to Rh wire - triggered heat).  Notified Google and then sent me new baseplate (arrived last night and installed - no fix.  Same exact issues).  Contacted them again this morning and just went through 2 hours of painful chat troubleshooting with totally useless reps (Madison and then Enzo).  If you get them, stop the chat, pull the Nest out of your house and get another brand.  I'm done with having a teenager in their basement ask me if my house is powered and calling it support/troubleshooting.

Cool story bro
