I have 5 Nests. Replaced one with a new Nest - the ‘tap and slide finger’ adjusting one. I have determined that it is not accepted as a thermostat in the Nest App, only in the Google Home App.
this fact should be stated CLEARLY in the instructions!
I have wasted several hours trying to do so. All 4 older ones function with the Nest App. I find the scheduling easier in the Nest App, especially when I want to show the weekly schedule to others.

Hi Sironi,
Thanks for reaching out, and I'm sorry for the frustration that this has caused you. Let's sort this out.
I found that you have the Nest Thermostat 2020, and this kind of Nest Thermostat is only compatible to be set up through the Google Home app; therefore, the Nest app won't work for this. If you wouldn't mind, can you try to follow the steps in this guide to set up your Nest Thermostat 2020 via the Google Home app?
Let me know how that works.
Best,
Zoe

Yes, I was able to set up my new Nest thermostat in the Home App. But not in the Nest App, where I would like to set the schedule and to connect a sensor to it.

Hi David,
Thank you for getting back to us. Nest Thermostat 2020 (by far the most recent Nest Thermostat launched by Google Nest) can only be set up using the Google Home app; thus, the Nest app will not work for this anymore unlike the Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd generation and the Nest Thermostat E.
On the other hand, we appreciate your insights about this matter, and please be assured that our product team is working non-stop with different partners to bring the best to the Google Nest devices. So, please let our product team know about it by sending feedback.
In the meantime, I'll go ahead and lock this thread within 24 hours. If you run into any more questions in the future, please feel free to create a new thread.
Best,
Zoe
